Program Overview for Education
As part of the Foundation’s ongoing mission to transform the lives of orphaned children, our educational program has four dedicated classes to accelerate the learning potential. We offer a course on English lessons, Computer Basics, and Activity Learning, as well as after school tutor-teacher assistance for those high school students who need the care and extra attention to complement their learning, particularly on core subjects such as Math, Physics and Chemistry.
The ABCs English Lessons Program, guided by the Mary K. Yap Foundation, is an enriching initiative aimed at providing orphanage youth with essential language skills and educational opportunities. Through interactive and engaging English lessons, the program equips orphanage youth with the tools they need to communicate effectively, expand their knowledge, and enhance their prospects for the future. The curriculum is designed to be accessible and adaptable, catering to learners of various ages and skill levels within orphanages. Lessons are varied, offering three levels of beginning, intermediate, and advanced learning to ensure that each youth can progress at their own pace and reach their full potential.
In addition to language acquisition, the program fosters a love for learning and personal growth among orphanage youth. The lessons not only focus on language proficiency but also incorporate elements of critical thinking, creativity, and cultural understanding. By nurturing a supportive and enriching learning environment, the program empowers orphanage youth to develop confidence, curiosity, and a thirst for knowledge that extends beyond the classroom. Through this initiative, the Mary K. Yap Foundation strives to unlock the full potential of orphanage youth and pave the way for brighter educational and career opportunities.
The High School Essential Courses Program, organized by the Mary K. Yap Foundation for orphanages, plays a crucial role in providing older orphans at the high school level with a robust foundation in core subjects such as math, physics, chemistry, and biology. These courses are of utmost importance as they enable the students to acquire vital knowledge and skills essential for their academic enhancement and future pursuits. The program is designed to cater to the specific educational needs of orphanage youth, offering tailored instruction and support to ensure their success in these fundamental subjects.
These classes go beyond basic education by offering additional attention and resources to help children gain a deeper understanding and familiarity with the subjects they need the most help with. The program’s emphasis on personalized learning empowers orphanage youth to overcome their educational barriers and build confidence in their academic abilities. By providing access to quality education and targeted support, the High School Essential Courses Program equips orphanage students with the tools they need to excel academically and pursue their aspirations with confidence.
The Computer Basics course program administered by the Mary K Yap Foundation for orphanages holds immense importance in equipping children with essential digital literacy skills crucial in today’s technology-driven world. These courses are designed to introduce technology and innovation into the learning process, scheduled at selected orphanages to ensure widespread access to digital education. By providing foundational knowledge in computer usage, software applications, internet navigation, and digital communication, the program empowers orphanage children to navigate the digital landscape with confidence and proficiency.
These classes not only focus on imparting technical skills but also foster a dynamic learning environment that makes education more engaging, interactive, and accessible for orphanage children. Through hands-on activities, interactive tutorials, and collaborative projects, the Computer Basics program encourages children to explore their creativity, problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking skills. By embracing technology as a tool for learning and growth, the program opens doors to new opportunities and pathways for orphanage children to excel academically and adapt to the digital age with ease.
The Vocational Learning courses, cosponsored with local and foreign partners, offer orphanages a unique opportunity to immerse their children in practical skill development essential for real-world applications. These courses cover a wide array of disciplines including painting, office administration, cooking, singing, dancing, digital multimedia work, and musical instrument instruction. By partnering with experienced professionals and organizations, the program ensures that orphaned children receive quality training and mentorship in these diverse fields, equipping them with valuable skills that are highly relevant in today’s job market.
These vocational courses play a vital role in providing older orphaned children with hands-on experiences and opportunities to develop various skills that are not only practical but also enriching. Beyond technical expertise, the program fosters holistic growth and personal development by encouraging creativity, self-expression, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. Participants are empowered to explore their passions, cultivate talents, and discover new interests, laying a strong foundation for their future endeavors and career aspirations.
The addition of weekend programs injects a new wave of excitement and confidence among the children, igniting their enthusiasm to actively engage in learning new skills. These weekend sessions serve as a platform for children to showcase their talents, collaborate with peers, and receive constructive feedback from instructors and mentors. The positive and supportive learning environment created by these vocational courses not only prepares orphanage youth for a brighter future filled with possibilities but also instills a sense of pride, accomplishment, and confidence as they develop into skilled and well-rounded individuals ready to contribute positively to society.
