“For nearly a decade, the Mary K. Yap Foundation has been connected with Galilee Church and Orphanage …
May 4, 2026 – Yangon, Myanmar – Founded by Pastor Saw Pyae Wa, Galilee has become a community we have come to know closely over the years, allowing us to witness the children’s growth and continue finding meaningful ways to support them at different stages of their lives.
The Foundation has developed #HighSchoolEssentials since 2017 as part of its educational support initiatives, and this year, the program was extended to the high school students at Galilee Church and Orphanage. Through High School Essentials, the students are supported with private teachers for after-tuition classes, giving them additional academic guidance and dedicated time to prepare for their high school studies and examinations.

“Every child deserves the opportunity to complete their education, discover their potential, and build a future filled with hope and possibilities.” — Dr. John Palmer, Chairman
In Myanmar, completing high school can be a significant challenge for students, and passing the high school examination is an important step toward higher education. Those who complete high school can continue to university through regular daily learning or pursue distance education while working for private companies. For young people, this milestone can therefore shape the opportunities available to them as they begin planning their careers and independent lives.

Those who complete high school can continue to university through regular daily learning or pursue distance education while working for private companies. For young people, this milestone can therefore shape the opportunities available to them as they begin planning their careers and independent lives.
For children growing up in an orphanage, reaching that milestone can be even more difficult. Many orphanages already face the daily responsibility of providing basic necessities such as food, clothing, shelter, and other essential care for the children in their community. Supporting additional education, including private tuition, can be beyond what an orphanage is able to provide on its own. This is where the support of donors and organizations can make a meaningful difference, helping children access opportunities that might otherwise remain out of reach.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Pastor Saw Pyae Wa and the Galilee Church and Orphanage community for their continued trust and partnership. We are equally grateful to our friends, family, and business partners whose generosity enables the Foundation to provide educational opportunities and other essential support to children across Myanmar. High School Essentials is one more step in helping these students move forward—not only toward completing high school, but toward the possibility of higher education, meaningful work, and an independent future. Together, we support their journey. Together, we build their future.
Through initiatives such as #HighSchoolEssentials #EducationForAll #MaryKYapFoundation, the Foundation continues to expand and serve the needs of the orphanage communities in Myanmar and beyond.
